Bio
One of the most-successful managers in Frontier League history who has been associated with the league for over two decades, Steve Brook enters his fourth season with the Grizzlies in 2025.
Since being hired to manage the club in 2022, he has turned the Grizzlies' fortunes around, leading them to back-to-back playoff appearances the last two seasons as well as the West Division title in 2023. As a result, he won the Roger Hanners Award as the Frontier League's Manager of the Year in 2023.
Prior to joining Gateway, Brook managed the Grizzlies' local rival club in the River City Rascals from 2010 until the team folded in 2019. In the process, his teams made the postseason in seven of his 10 years in the dugout, winning the 2010 and 2019 Frontier League championships.
Overall, he enters 2025 with 707 career managerial victories in the Frontier League, good for third-most in league history.
Before he became manager of the Rascals, he served as the club's pitching coach from 2008-09, and was one of the top starting pitchers in Rascals history from 2003-07, setting a team record with 33 wins in his four seasons on the mound.
Originally from Chicago, Brook played collegiately at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, graduating with a Bachelors degree in History. He also holds a Masters degree in Physical Education from the University of Central Missouri, and is a Phys. Ed. teacher at Fort Zumwalt South High School in St. Peter's, Missouri during the offseason.
He and his wife Ellen live in O'Fallon, Missouri. They have two children, Nolan and Caitlin.
